How Prompts Work

Prompts are the foundation of how Search Party operates. They are the inputs we use to query LLMs daily and track responses over time. To add new prompts:

  • Open the Prompts section from the top-level navigation on the left.

  • Click Add Prompt.

  • Choose one of four input methods:

    • Choose prompts we auto suggest via AI

    • Write prompts in one by one

    • Paste a list of prompts

    • Upload an Excel file

The system automatically recognizes new prompts. As soon as they’re added, Search Party begins querying models with them.

From the Prompts section, you can also add tags. Tags provide an easy way to organize prompts, and they let you filter analytics by those categories.

Key Benefits

  • Centralized place to manage all prompts

  • Automatic querying of LLMs begins instantly after input

  • Tags make it simple to organize and analyze performance by theme or campaign

Common Use Cases

  • Marketing teams: Track top-of-funnel discovery queries, mid-funnel comparison queries, and bottom-of-funnel purchase intent queries

  • Product marketing: Understand how LLMs perceive product features and positioning

  • Sales teams: Identify how prospects might encounter brand or competitor messaging in LLM outputs

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Navigate to Prompts in the left-hand sidebar

  2. Click Add Prompt

  3. Enter prompts manually, paste multiple prompts, or upload an Excel file

  4. Once added, prompts are automatically recognized and models are queried

  5. Use tags to organize prompts and filter analytics
